Dental Care of Oak Park

If you are looking for a new dentist, look no further! From the moment you enter the doors, the front staff is pleasant and helpful. I am a returning customer after moving away for many years. They didn’t miss a beat! The paperwork was easy, I was brought back to the room quickly, the x-rays were completed and the dentist was in my room for my exam. Everyone was professional and so friendly. I am so happy to be back!!

I’ve been receiving dental care with Dr. Perna and crew for over 20 years, and have always been extremely satisfied! He’s a fabulous and knowledgeable dentist and the hygienists are excellent, too. Office staff are always friendly and helpful, as well. Highly recommend!

I'm updating this review with my next visit which cemented my decision to leave this practice. Here are my reasons. First at my last cleaning the hygienist didn't know how to turn on the lights or cleaning equipment. She rushed through what I'd saw was the most slipshod cleaning I've had in my entire 62 years of being alive and didn't even floss my teeth. When I left my review someone reached out to me and said she was on an interview. Well, I don't run a dental practice, but if I did I'd show them how to turn on the equipment before she went to work AND I'd have the interviewee clean a staff or family member's teeth and ask them for feedback. Instead this woman did a bad job and no one asked me for feedback. Kind of makes me wonder if I'm getting an honest answer from the practice. Second, on a Saturday morning I was eating granola and felt a crack followed by some pretty severe pain. I was glad Dr Perna was able to squeeze me in. He saw me, looked around and said he didn't see anything and come back if it continued to be a problem. Now, I haven't been to Dental School, but there are two HUGE things he didn't do. 1. He didn't even touch the tooth! Yep, you got that right. Didn't even touch the tooth to see if it may be broken below the gum line. 2. He didn't take an x-ray! Seriously, if the patient tells you he felt a "Crack" and is in pain even I know you take an x-ray to see if the problem could be below the gum line! Oh, and you get to bill for that too so you'd make more money! I got a second opinion 2 days later, the tooth was touched, x-rays were taken and the tooth was broken below the gum line exactly as I suspected. It's since been extracted and I've had an implant inserted. I'll be getting the tooth on the post in a few months. From my new dentist. These both demonstrate complete incompetence by this practice.

My dental hygienist Erica did an excellent job with my X-rays and cleaning yesterday. She was very gentle and made me feel comfortable the whole time. She also noticed a problem with one of my teeth and let my dentist know, which prompted my dentist to perform a CT scan in the office and referred me to an endodontist. Nirvana performed my dental CT scan and was very kind. Thank you Erica, Nirvana, and Dr. Brendan!

My experience with his office is always excellent. The office staff is amazing. Very knowledgeable. Very available with all my questions. Pretty awesome young girls and guy. The doctor is amazing. I always feel very comfortable and I do leave with a smile!!

I have been going to Dental Care of Oak Park over 30 years Dr. Perna has been my dentist he is a phenomenal Dentist. He brought a new Dentist into the practice Dr. Brendan Vastlik. I met Dr. Brendan during an emergency where he saw me first thing on a Saturday morning. He was kind and gentle. He had me all fixed up within an hour with no pain. I would recommend Oak Park Dental and Dr. Brendan to everyone! If you’re deathly afraid of the dentist he will change your mind while doing excellent work..

Kelly was absolutely awesome! She explained everything clearly, made the cleaning process smooth, and helped me feel completely comfortable throughout my visit. The front desk team and the rest of the staff are just as great — always welcoming, flexible, and offering outstanding customer service. I truly recommend this dental office to anyone looking for a positive and stress-free experience!
